About the studio

A small studio with a specific point of view

Alphaimint is one photographer, one editor, and a commitment to never making the same picture twice.

Where the studio comes from

Alphaimint grew out of a frustration with photography that looked great in a showroom and felt hollow in a living room.

Alphaimint was founded in Montréal in 2018 by a photographer who had spent several years shooting corporate events and noticed the same problem across nearly every job: the images were technically correct and emotionally empty. The light was right, the exposure was right, and nobody in the frame looked like themselves. That discomfort became the engine behind this studio. The name reflects a pursuit of the primary image — the alpha frame, the one that actually happened — rather than a manufactured ideal. Since 2018, Alphaimint has completed over 280 projects ranging from small family portrait sessions in Verdun and Rosemont to multi-day wedding commissions in Charlevoix and Cantons-de-l'Est, commercial campaigns for retail and hospitality brands across Montréal, and event coverage for cultural institutions including gallery openings and performing arts organisations. The studio operates out of Montréal's Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood and serves clients across the province of Québec and nationally for commercial work.

How we actually work — and where we stop

Transparency about process and limits matters as much as the quality of the final images.

Every Alphaimint project follows the same sequence: a discovery call to understand what you need and what you want to feel when you look at the photos years from now, a location or logistics conversation, the shoot itself, and a careful editing pass that takes roughly 10–14 business days. Images are delivered via a private online gallery with a five-year hosting window and full download rights. Rush delivery at 48 hours is available for commercial and press work at an additional fee. The edit aesthetic across all work uses a clean indigo-toned colour science — shadows carry a subtle blue-grey coolness, highlights stay open and airy, and the overall feel references the particular quality of northern light you get in Montréal on a clear afternoon. It is a consistent look, not a variable one; if you want warm-amber filmic tones or heavy black-and-white grain, we are probably not the right studio for your project, and we will say so honestly before you book. Alphaimint does not offer videography, drone photography, or post-production services beyond standard retouching. We are a photography studio with a narrow and deliberate focus, and the quality of the work depends on keeping it that way.

I've worked with three different photographers in Montréal over the past five years. Alphaimint is the only one who asked me what I wanted to remember before picking up the camera. The pictures from my daughter's portrait session are the first photographs of our family that look like us.
